The WMU (Women’s Missionary Union) is an important ministry of First Baptist Church Wedowee. Our mission is to inform and inspire Christian women to influence their world for Christ. We seek to promote and provide mission education for our church. We work together with our association to share certain projects in the community throughout the year, such as making care bags for the Christian Service Center, doing the Country Store at the nursing homes in Roanoke, collecting coats and blankets for the needy, filling shoe boxes for Samaritan’s Purse, collecting paper goods and supplies for the Children’s Home in Oxford, and collecting school supplies for foster children for DHR. We promote specific missions like the World Hunger Fund, the Lottie Moon offering for foreign missionaries, and the Annie Armstrong offering for home missionaries.
Our WMU group currently meets the second Monday of every month at 2:00 in the Fellowship Hall of our church. The programs are always interesting, varying from missionary speakers to mission action projects, such as making cookies for Valentine plates and delivering them to our shut-ins and the two local housing projects in our area. We do book studies, field trips, sewing projects, and even a tea party at Christmas. Our meetings are a wonderful time of fellowship, learning, and praying for missionaries.
All women are welcome to join us! See Jeanette Smith for more information.
